Backpacker Murder Trial Begins Today
"A preliminary hearing into one of Australia's most notorious cases, the murder of British backpacker Peter Falconio, begins in Darwin today.
Bradley John Murdoch, 45, will face a committal hearing on charges he murdered Mr Falconio beside an outback highway in the NT in July 2001.
He is also accused of the unlawful assault and deprivation of liberty of Mr Falconio's then-girlfriend, Joanne Lees. "
