Greece Hopes for Long-Term Boost

"ATHENS, Greece (Reuters) -- Greece will use this summer's Olympics as a launch pad to boost its visitor numbers and double the contribution of the tourist industry in the Greek economy in the future, said the country's Tourism Minister.

Dimitris Avramopoulos said that despite a drop in the number of tourists early this year, figures were seen flat by the end of the year, as visitors flock to Athens for the Games and then take the opportunity to travel around Greece."
