May 28, 2004Warnings
Travel Warning to the US "The Federal Government has re-issued a travel advisory for the US. Foreign Minister Alexander Downer says the Government wants to draw attention to US concerns about possible terrorist attacks over the northern summer months. The Department of Foreign Affairs says US authorities have graded the threat at the "yellow" level, indicating a significant risk of terrorist attacks. " (I know I don't usually put up the various and sundry travel warnings, but I did this time to make a point. The obvious first is that too often we think of the danger as 'out there' and so we stay at home in our safe little cocoon and hide away from it. We Americans are more guilty of this than nearly any other nation, but the US is having travel warning issued against coming here. So the obvious second thing to consider is, how does it feel to live in a place that people are warned against traveling to? Some things to consider anyway.) Comments
