August 30, 2004Cab ride to N.Y. hotel takes a surprise turn
NEW YORK - When police suddenly descended on the cab as it dropped off Sean Noble, Arizona Rep. John Shadegg's chief of staff, at the hotel where the Arizona delegation to the Republican National Convention is staying, Noble wasn't quite sure what was happening. "A squad car suddenly pulled up and blocked the cab, and then about 15 cops began to gather around," Noble said Sunday of his Saturday night arrival at the Roosevelt Hotel. "I was thinking, did he run a red light, or make a wrong turn?" Turns out, Noble said, the cabbie who had driven him from the airport to the hotel was operating illegally, not having the required taxi medallion displayed. Source here Comments
