The occasion of the Queen's state visit to Germany has unleashed a wave of indignant articles in the nation's press full of breast-beating on why British newspapers are so "replete with hate" towards the country. From tabloids to august broadsheets, across the political spectrum, the question being asked in editorials, was: "What do they have against us?" "German haters have been given the chance to have a field day," said the Left-wing Süddeutsche Zeitung, referring to a row over whether the Queen should say sorry for Britain's bombing of Nazi Germany. The fact that no German or British officials have called for an apology has not prevented a debate dominating parts of the press in both countries over the past few days. Continued here Comments
