Eurotunnel revenues down as passenger numbers fall
Eurotunnel today reported further woe for its suffering shareholders with news of a slump in income from its core truck and car services.
The embattled Channel Tunnel operator said intense competition from ferries and low cost airlines between Dover and Calais had led to a 7% drop in revenues from its shuttles at constant exchange rates.
The company, which has £6.2bn (€9.1bn) of debt, said its passenger market was declining and it had been hit by a price war with rivals.
